ReplyDeleteAh Soh has a tanned complexion. There were raw pink patches on her wrinkled face, as if rats had bitten her. Her hands were rough from washing dishes and clothes. The skin on her legs were hanging lazily from her body. Her back was hunched, her small frame could not carry her around.

She usually wears a T-shirt which was given by her relatives. She wears an old "samsui woman" hat, folded beautifully to form the one-of-a kind hat.Her shorts were too long, she had tried to alter it herself, but had left signs of fraying.

She moves as slow as a sloth, her back hunched forward. Her hands moves but faster than her legs, as she had forty years of experience, washing dishes.

She speaks slowly, struggling to form words. Her education was limited, as a result, weak english. She knows how to speak cantonese, which was taught by her mother.

Ah Soh feels a sense of sympathy for herself. Her relatives treat her as a maid, and her daughter as a useless girl. She also feels committed to her life as she does not give up on her life, even though Mrs Khoo had tortured her for forty years.

1) She has a blanched and wrinkled face. She has hollowed eye sockets and a deep set forehead.
ReplyDelete2) She wears apron mostly as she has to work in the kitchen everyday. On special occasions, she wears her old fashioned floral printing clothing.
3)She limps around as she is old but still need to help Mrs Khoo around the house.
4) She has a hoarse and croaking voice. When she shouts, its piercing.
5) She feels insulted by Mrs Khoo , shes also lonely and she spoils her daughter a lot.
